The Finnish Prime Minister Sana Marin has married her life partner and the father of her daughter Marcus Raikkonen, the Finnish government announced on Sunday.

The Helsinki government stated that Marin and Raikkonen held their marriage ceremonies at its official residence in the northwest of the Finnish capital on Saturday, in the presence of 40 guests.

Marin, 34, posted on Instagram an image of her and her groom, jubilant, as she wore a blue wedding dress while Raikkonen was wearing a suit, and wrote: "I am happy and grateful because I had to share my life with the man I love."

"Of all people, you are the right person for me, thank you for standing by my side," she wrote to Raikkonen.

It is noteworthy that Marin and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz are the youngest heads of government in the world.

Marin met Raikkonen when they were at university 16 years ago, and they now have a child (two and a half years old) called Emma.

Marin will be the second female head of government in the north of the European Union, to be married this summer as she was preceded by the head of the Danish government, Mitte Friedrichsen, 42, who married her life partner Bo Tinberg.
