She varies with different techniques and thus brings out varying expressions in her works of art.

- This rug I have taken inspiration from the Bauhaus Museum in Berlin. They had this carpet in gray and white, and I thought that seemed exciting. So I photographed it and was told that I did not get it. So I said sorry.

- But then I went home and I made a rug like this, says Catharina Carlstedt and shows a rug in yellow and brown shades.

Carpet in the bedroom

Another anecdote she has is about a rug she woven that involves a widow and leftover shirts.

- After an exhibition I had, a distressed woman called me. She had become a widow but could not get rid of her deceased husband's shirts. So she asked if you could make a rug out of them. I felt sorry for her and said I would see what I could come up with.

- Then it became a carpet of just over two meters. Now she has it in her bedroom and she is so happy, because she thinks of her husband, every time she walks on it.

Catharina Carlstedt's motto has always been that she takes what she has and so it must be as it is. She says that she thinks it's especially fun when she gets to reuse things that would otherwise have been thrown away.
