At the end of February, a 23-year-old Örnsköldsvik resident began to show interest in a woman in various ways, but the courtship was not desired. Something that the woman also made him understand.

However, the 23-year-old did not give up but continued to contact her by phone, text message and social media. In the end, the woman thought it was uncomfortable and reported the man to the police. At the beginning of May, Ångermanland District Court decided to give the 23-year-old a restraining order.

Continued contact attempts

However, this did not deter the 23-year-old, who already two days after the decision continued to send text messages to the woman. Later he sent more messages and also left flowers.

This week, chamber prosecutor Katarina Becker chose to prosecute him for harassment and for violating the contact ban on four occasions. According to the indictment, the 23-year-old then admitted that he had committed the crimes.

Risk of continued crime

Two days after the indictment was filed, the 23-year-old is taken in for questioning by the police. After the interrogation, the man is arrested and prosecutor Becker requests that he be detained. Partly for the crimes he has already been charged with, but the request for detention also shows that the man continued to violate the contact ban. He is now suspected of violations for another six days in July.

As a reason for detention, the prosecutor states that there is a risk that the man will continue to commit crimes.
