(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Taiwan adds 1 new case of imported new coronary pneumonia

China News Agency, Taipei, August 2-Taiwan’s "Pandemic Epidemic Command Center" announced on the 2nd that there was one new imported case of new coronary pneumonia in Taiwan. The cumulative number of confirmed cases has increased to 475.

Comprehensive Central News Agency, "United Daily News", and ETtoday News Cloud reported that the case was a Filipino female in her 20s. She came to Taiwan to visit relatives on July 31 and was tested at the airport. She developed fever on August 1 and was diagnosed on the 2nd. The health department is investigating the case of the passenger on the flight to list contacts.

In response to the Belgian case with unknown source of infection announced on the 1st, the command center stated that the serum antibody test results of this case were negative for IgM antibodies and strongly positive for IgG antibodies, which means that the infection time was earlier. The latest investigation found that the case had lost the sense of smell and taste when quarantined in Belgium in the second week of March this year, but had no other symptoms. Although the case had seen a doctor twice, the loss of smell and taste was not included in the possible symptoms of new coronary pneumonia and was not diagnosed.

The command center stated that the case has not been listed as an imported case overseas or a local infection case. The health unit has listed 199 close contacts of the case. At present, 192 people have completed the nucleic acid test, and 54 people are known to have tested negative. Serum antibody testing will be added from the 3rd.

In addition, the command center stated that the new crown pneumonia in the fall and winter of this year is likely to occur at the same time as the flu, and the real-name mask policy will be implemented at least until the end of December. (Finish)
