She said that the dead Frenchman was Andy Villa, from the infantry battalion specializing in electrical mechanical work.

France has more than 5,000 soldiers in the Sahel region of West Africa, as part of its military intervention against al-Qaeda militants that began in 2012.

Ten civilians were killed

On the other hand, security sources reported that at least 10 people were killed in an attack by Boko Haram militants on a village in the Beheira region, west of Chad.

According to Agence France-Presse, Boko Haram militants killed at least 10 civilians and kidnapped 7 others in an attack on the village of Tinana, including two women.

After the Boko Haram group emerged in northeast Nigeria in 2009, its presence gradually expanded to include the Lake Chad Basin, a vast area of ​​water spread across many islands bordering Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad.
