Iraqi political forces and parties welcomed today, Saturday, the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s decision to set a date for early legislative elections on June 6 next year under the supervision of international observers instead of May 2022, while Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi called for the appointment to be accelerated.

Al-Halbousi called for an emergency session of parliament in the presence of the three presidencies and political forces to discuss the date of the elections, considering that it was first to set an appointment closer to the date called for by Kazemi.

On announcing the election date, Naim al-Aboudi, a member of the "Sadiqun" bloc, the political wing of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, welcomed the government's move, and said that the elections will determine the true weight of the Iraqi parties and blocs.

Burhan al-Maamouri, a leader in the "Saeron" alliance backed by the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, welcomed the announcement of the elections early.

The Parliamentary Al-Fateh Alliance confirmed that it would work to complete the election law in preparation for its holding, and the head of the Alliance, Muhammad al-Ghabban, said that Al-Fateh allied with early elections that had already been determined at the request of the political blocs - led by the Al-Fateh Coalition - that they should be among the priorities of the government’s current government program.

He pointed out that his alliance will work with the rest of the political blocs to complete the legislation of the election law and the Federal Court in preparation for early elections in the scheduled time.

The Front for "Salvation and Development" led by Osama Nujaifi expressed support and support for Al-Kazemi's decision to set a date for early elections, and to be conducted according to the conditions and criteria that guarantee the transparency of the electoral process.

Al-Nujaifi called for "issuing a law that inspires the will of the people, and demands of the Tishreen revolutionaries to adopt individual elections and multiple constituencies, and to use the biometric card exclusively to miss the opportunity on counterfeiters and traffickers, and restore the prestige of the state."

He demanded that the unarmed weapons be restricted, and that they provide a sound democratic environment that would qualify the citizen to exercise his legal right to choose his representatives.

The head of the liberated cities coalition, Khamis Al-Khanjar, announced his support for setting a date for early elections.

He said in a tweet via Twitter, "We have supported from the beginning Mr. Al-Kazemi's government, and we will support the serious steps and decisions that help in saving Iraq."

"We support the holding of early, transparent elections under international supervision that adopt the biometric system and any means that protect the will of the people ..." he added.

The Al-Nasr coalition - led by former Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi - welcomed an early date for the elections, and called on all institutions and political forces to join forces to overcome obstacles related to the electoral law.

He stressed that the credibility of the entire political system depends on the upcoming electoral process, the extent of its integrity, its expression of the people's strength and aspirations, and the formation of an effective national government.

Head of the National Sind Bloc, Ahmad Al-Asadi, praised the move to set a new date for the elections, stressing the need to complete his law.

For its part, the United Nations Mission in Iraq called on the government, parliament and parties to ensure that elections are held that put the country's interests above all considerations.
