China News Service, July 31. According to Korean media reports, the Defense Department of the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea stated that at 7:11 am local time on the 31st, South Korea’s first military communications satellite "Anasis-II" successfully entered the distance from the earth to about 3.6 10,000 kilometers of geostationary orbit. The "Anasis-II" has thus entered the preparation stage for the official mission.

According to reports, the South Korean military will take over the satellite in October 2020 and conduct operational assessments of the satellite and its communications with eight devices on the ground before the end of the year. The satellite is expected to begin its official mission in early 2021.

People from the South Korean military claim that the satellite will benefit the development of South Korea’s military communications system and space defense capabilities.

According to previous reports, "Anasis-II" is a dedicated military communications satellite, manufactured by the French Airbus based on the Eurostar-E3000 satellite platform. According to the Korean government's 2020 budget, the "Anasis-II" military communications satellite will cost 500 billion won.
