Previously, the Swedish Tourist Association introduced restrictions for living in mountain cabins to reduce the risk of corona infection by limiting the number of beds in the cabins.

There are many, and perhaps more than expected, who want to spend part of their holiday in the mountains, the Swedish Tourist Association has noticed. Therefore, restrictions have been introduced for living in the cottages.

"Not put different parties in the same room"

- Yes, not in all cottages, but it is along the northern royal trail between Abisko and Nikkaluokta. It is the case that the mountain cabins look a little different, with the amount of beds in one room and then we have not put different parties in the same room, says Gabriella Hugosson cabin coordinator STF Abisko.

In order to avoid overcrowding, and thereby reduce the spread of infection, it was previously introduced that all accommodation in STF's mountain cabins must be booked in advance. But there have been guests who have not been aware of this.

- When we saw that there were actually guests who had not pre-booked, we did so that we reduced the number of beds that could be pre-booked. We have looked at each cottage and started from how we best solve this situation, so as not to put people too crowded, says Gabriella Hugosson cottage coordinator STF Abisko.

Introduced a time limit

There are many young people walking along Kungleden this summer and the number of tents has increased, they are still allowed to use service spaces in the cabins.

- We have set a limit on time, previously tents have been allowed to make full use of the cottage. Now we have set a time limit. You can enter the cottage a little later and you have to leave the cottage earlier in the evening, so that it does not clash with accommodation for the guests inside the cottage and to avoid congestion in the kitchen, says Gabriella Hugosson cottage coordinator STF Abisko.
