EU French pharmaceutical company agrees to secure vaccine for 300 million doses New Corona August 1 at 6:14

The EU=European Union announced on the 31st that French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi agreed to receive 300 million doses if it succeeded in developing a vaccine for the new coronavirus.

The EU Commission, the executive body of the EU, has announced that if Sanofi succeeds in developing a vaccine, the EU has agreed to supply 300 million doses on behalf of 27 Member States.

This means that EU member states can purchase vaccines as needed.

Of the EU member states, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy form four groups to cooperate in securing vaccines, and supply up to 400 million doses of vaccine to the EU countries at cost. In agreement with the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, the European Commission will work with other drug companies to further secure vaccines.

In the EU and neighboring countries, the cumulative number of infected people exceeded 1.7 million as of the 31st, and the number of new infected people, which had been on a declining trend, has begun to increase again. Some people are worried about "waves."
