After the fire which devastated 165 hectares of vegetation in Anglet, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, was brought under control, the Bayonne public prosecutor's office opened an investigation on Friday for destruction by fire resulting in an ITT of more than eight days. 

A spectacular fire which took place Thursday evening in a forest in the center of Anglet, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, was "under control" on Friday morning, after having destroyed 165 hectares of vegetation. In the morning, the Bayonne prosecutor's office opened an investigation for destruction by fire resulting in an ITT of more than eight days. The investigations were entrusted to the judicial police of Bayonne who will have to determine the origin and the causes of the incident.

The causes of the fire are still unknown

After hours of fighting against the fire which mobilized up to 150 firefighters at the height of the device, the inhabitants of Anglet, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, could only see the damage after a spectacular fire had taken place. Thursday in a forest in the center of the town, affecting eleven houses, and making five uninhabitable. Europe 1 collected the testimony of the mayor of the city, Claude Olive, who expressed to our microphone his dismay. "It's a disaster, it's crying," he says. 

The elected official also specified that the causes of the fire remained unknown at this stage, even if "we know roughly where the fire started", near a sports complex, located at the height of the middle from the forest of Chiberta, the green lung of Anglet and popular place for strolling with locals and tourists.
