July 30, 2020 Former US President Barack Obama has accused current White House tenant Donald Trump of '' attacks on democracy ''. In a speech given at the funeral ceremony of civil rights icon John Lewis, Obama cited ongoing tensions in the United States.

"While we are here, there are still people throwing tear gas at protesters and doing everything they can to deny people their right to vote," Trump said without quoting. "I know this ceremony is to celebrate the memory of John Lewis and that some might say that we shouldn't dwell on certain aspects, but John has spent his life fighting the attacks on democracy in America, just like the ones we see circulating in this period, "he added.
