“These people could have been employees of one of the commercial companies that ensure the protection of energy infrastructure and energy resources not in Russia or Belarus, but in one of the countries of another region. This is a common commercial activity, they have the right to earn money, feed their families, and there is nothing illegal in this, ”the diplomat said.

According to him, a citizen of Belarus acted as a partner for these people.

“And here, too, there is nothing illegal: they crossed the border, presenting to the border service officers the documents that give grounds to conduct work on the territory of the republic,” Mezentsev said.

On July 29, the state Belarusian news agency BelTA announced the arrest of 33 Russians in Belarus. The Russians detained in Belarus are suspected of preparing riots. As reported in the Investigative Committee of the republic, at the moment the issue of their arrest is being decided.
