The Secretary of State for Tourism Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, invited Thursday evening on Europe 1, took stock of the situation of tourism in France. Brittany, Normandy, Var and even Jura are doing well this summer, while the Alpes-Maritimes and Vaucluse "suffer from the absence of international customers".

This summer, nearly 7 in 10 French people preferred to spend their holidays in France rather than abroad. But which regions are the most visited by our compatriots? The Secretary of State for Tourism Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, invited Thursday evening on Europe 1, took stock of the tourism situation in the country.

"The regions that are doing their best are the southern region, Brittany, Normandy or even New Aquitaine. We see a better distribution of flows over the whole of the territory," he detailed, while the tourism sector is severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The international clientele is lacking in Alpes-Maritimes and Vaucluse, the success of Aveyron and Jura 

The Secretary of State, however, noted "contrasting situations depending on the territories", taking the example of the Southeast. "What we observe is a very present French clientele, with + 20% of French tourists in the Var. But the Alpes-Maritimes and Vaucluse suffer from the absence of international clientele", explains. he. 

Other regions, usually less touristy, have had the favor of the French this summer. "Conversely, more rural areas such as Aveyron or Jura are doing very well and are seeing new customers arriving", assures Jean-Baptise Lemoyne.

The Secretary of State was also delighted that "7 French out of 10 (have) chosen to stay in France, whereas in previous years we saw more and more travelers spending their holidays in the Mediterranean basin.
