July 28, 2020 Twitter has removed a video posted by the son - and namesake - of the President of the United States. Donald Trump Jr, according to the platform, was broadcasting a video that contained false information about the new coronavirus. Parts of the content were then relaunched by the US president himself.

"The tweets accompanying the video violate our policy on disinformation on Covid-19," a Twitter spokesman told France Presse, without providing further information, particularly on the number of people who viewed the offending content. The restrictions imposed will last 12 hours and the eldest son of the American president has been asked to cancel the tweet with the offending video in which - explains the social media - "misleading and potentially harmful information about covid-19 is spread", such as the use of the hydroxychloroquine to treat the virus

The same video had already been removed from Facebook on Monday evening: "We deleted this video because it shared a false information on cures and treatments for Covid-19," said a spokesman for the blue social network. This video shows a group of doctors making statements considered misleading and false about the pandemic.

According to the Washington Post, over 14 million people saw it on Facebook. A few hours later, President Donald Trump himself tweeted several clips of the same video to his millions of followers. Twitter is Donald Trump's main communication platform but in recent weeks, the platform has distanced himself from it, not hesitating to 'obscure' the President's tweets.
