July 28, 2020 A difficult choice, made to ensure the safety of residents and guests. This reads in the long Facebook post of the municipality of Carpignano, in the province of Lecce, which canceled the La Notte della Taranta Festival, scheduled for 6 August. Reason: Four people tested positive for Covid-19.

"While waiting for the epidemiological picture to be definitively clarified - he explains - and to return to a condition of absolute tranquility as it was until a few days ago, in compliance with the rules of prudence and in the interest in guaranteeing the most absolute safety of our fellow citizens and guests, the administration decided to cancel the stage and communicated this decision to the Foundation ".  

Appointment with the Taranta next year "be certain - reads at the end of the post - of your understanding and hopeful that the Fondazione Notte della Taranta and all the artists who should have exhibited understand our difficult choice". 

Outbreak under control
Again through social media, the municipality explains that 4 people tested positive for Covid-19. The outbreak is limited for the immediate intervention of the ASL, which has identified all the people who have had close contacts with the positives. All have been quarantined. The outcome of the swabs was negative.
