27 July 2020Siberian high school student Yurij Krysov has developed and built an internet tower in his village in the province of Novosibirsk, bringing the network connection to his fellow villagers.

In the boy's village the network did not arrive because the telephone lines are obsolete. At the request of citizenship, the local provider asked about 15 thousand euros to bring optical fiber to the village. For residents, 60 houses in total, the sum was inexpensive.

Yuri, who studied in a musical high school, needed the connection to upload his compositions online. The boy asked a fellow villager to weld the 10-meter-high antenna with steel bars. Then he fixed the modem of a mobile operator on the highest tip and at the base a router with a signal sorting terminal, bringing the connection to 3 houses. The "customers" make a small contribution which is put into the fund for the purchase of more powerful equipment to guarantee connectivity to the entire village.

The boy said that in neighboring villages people are opposed to the installation of repeaters for fear of radiation, while its construction gives off radiation equivalent to a cell phone. Finally, economic competitiveness: the construction of Yuri costs around 70 euros.
