The StreetPress site on Monday published an investigation implicating police officers who allegedly ill-treated people detained at the Paris court depot, awaiting trial. The article mentions in particular racist insults and food deprivation.

Insults, mostly racist, deprivation of health care, water and food. On Monday, the StreetPress site published an investigation denouncing the mistreatment of dozens of people detained at the Paris court pending trial. The alert was issued by a police officer, Amar Benmohamed, shocked at the behavior of some of his colleagues.

According to this brigadier-chief, several of his colleagues responsible for monitoring the 120 or so cells in the depot in Paris have established a system of mistreatment against black and North African detainees. All called "bastards", they suffered various humiliations, until this peacekeeper who shouted one morning at the microphone "stand up the bougnoules and the niggas, finished sleeping!"

IGPN investigation

Some police officers are even accused of having stolen money in particular from the personal effects of detainees. According to our information, the IGPN has investigated several of the reported facts. "In March 2019, at the request of his hierarchy, Chief Brigadier Benmohamed reported malfunctions within his unit. The prefect seized the IGPN, which in February 2020, proposed sanctions," confirms the prefecture of police at Europe 1.

Six files were sent for sanctions. They concern both the direct perpetrators of the bullying and some police officers who knew and did not say anything. Also according to the police headquarters, the sanctions, which range from reprimand to warning, are being notified against five police officers. The sixth will be the subject in September of a disciplinary council, which alone can decide on serious sanctions such as dismissal.
