The probation service was commissioned by Norrköping District Court to conduct a personal investigation of the 40-year-old. It shows that she suffers from substance abuse problems, mental illness and procriminal attitudes. The probation service believes that there is a need for monitoring.

According to the probation service, the most appropriate sanction should be probation with a special treatment plan. The woman rejects this proposal, according to the investigation.

Not mentally ill

She has previously received an assessment from the National Board of Forensic Medicine which states that she is not mentally ill and thus can be sentenced to prison.

The district court considers that there is insufficient evidence that the woman has been guilty of neither murder nor extremely serious assault.

She was released from custody earlier in July. The court believes that there is evidence that the mother caused the daughter's death through negligence, but this is not enough to keep the woman in custody.

Anyone who has committed the crime of negligence causing the death of another can be sentenced to between one and six years in prison if it is deemed to be serious.
