Paco Frutos, former secretary general of the Unified Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSUC), of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE), and former general coordinator of Izquierda Unida (IU), has died at the age of 80 in Madrid due to cancer, as confirmed by sources of this latest political formation.
Francisco Frutos Gras (Calella, Barcelona, 1939) was secretary general of the PCE from December 1998 to November 2009, as well as a member of the United Left in Congress from 1993 to the 2004 elections
