The American police announced the arrest of dozens and the injury of many of its men in clashes during the largest protest of the "Black Life Mission" movement in the city of Seattle for weeks, and this came after violent clashes between activists and federal officers in the neighboring city of Portland, Oregon.

Police used light bombs and pepper gas to repel demonstrators in Washington, D.C., which joined a protest movement that began in Portland against racism and deployed federal security personnel by order of US President Donald Trump.

Police said its personnel used non-lethal weapons in attempts to disperse thousands of demonstrators Saturday night in Seattle, after some protestors set fire to a construction site at a palace detention center and a court in King County.

"As of 10:00 a.m. (0500 GMT Sunday morning), Seattle police have written to Twitter," they arrested 45 people in connection with the riots today in the Eastern District, "it said.

"21 members of the police were injured as a result of being thrown with stones, shells and other explosives, and most of the individuals were able to return to work," she added.

Portland Protests
Meanwhile, Portland, Oregon's largest city where protest rallies have been taking place for nearly two months, has witnessed new clashes between protesters and the police.

Portland protesters attempted to land a monument in front of the Federal Court, and security forces responded with heavily tear gas and dispersed the crowd.

The protest movement in this northwestern city of the United States began, just as throughout the country and the world after the death of the black American George Floyd, suffocating under the knee of a white policeman in the city of Minneapolis.

It expanded as federal police officers arrived in mid-July in Portland.

In videos posted on social networks, federal security personnel appear in special forces uniforms, and without visible badges identifying them, they use camouflaged cars to arrest protesters, fueling the protest movement.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler accused federal elements of causing a serious escalation of the situation by using abusive and unconstitutional methods. Wheeler met protesters on Wednesday after he himself was hit by a tear gas canister.

On Thursday, the Justice Department opened a formal investigation into the measure, carried out by federal police, on the site and sparking intense controversy in the country, but a judge in Oregon rejected a request by the state Friday to prevent these elements from arresting protesters.

In his campaign for re-election in November, Trump focused on restoring "order." On Wednesday, it also announced the strengthening of federal security personnel in Chicago and other cities after increasing crime rates and shootings.

One dead in Austin
and in Austin, Texas, the authorities there said one person was killed by several gunfire during a protest of the "Life of Blacks Mission" movement on Saturday.

Austin police and emergency medical services said on Twitter that one person was killed during the shooting.

The police stated in a press statement that initial reports indicated that the suspect was carrying a gun and shot the victim who was in his car. She added that she had arrested the suspect.

Clashes in Louisville
In the same context, American media reported that three people were slightly wounded by a firearm Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. But the police said the incidents were "accidental."

Black armed activists in this city protested the death of Briona Taylor, a black woman who was killed by the police in her apartment last March.
