A state of anger prevailed in social media in Egypt in the past two days, after activists circulated pictures that they revealed revealing the cemetery of Sheikh Islam al-Ezz bin Abdul Salam, known as the Sultan of Scholars and the seller of the princes, but others said that the pictures are old, stressing that the cemetery was neglected for years.

This comes in light of the controversy sparked by the circulation of the pioneers of communication sites, pictures and videos of demolitions carried out by the Egyptian authorities in the "Mamluk Qarafaq" area that include historical cemeteries and Islamic monuments, considering this a demolition of heritage and underestimation of the feelings of the Egyptians, while some of them compared the demolition of Islamic monuments and the eagerness of the Egyptian authorities On restoring the remains of Egyptian Jews and their tombs.

Tweeters shared pictures of the Ezz Bin Abdul Salam Cemetery, and some said that the cemetery was demolished as part of the construction of the new road, which led to the demolition of several historical cemeteries.

But others said that the cemetery was not demolished, but it has suffered from neglect for many years, and that the images circulated already belong to the cemetery, but the effects of the demolition are not new, which activists considered the failure of the Egyptian authorities to pay attention to important historical symbols.

For its part, the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities denied the destruction of Islamic antiquities in the area, stressing that what was demolished are modern cemeteries, as part of the process of creating a new road to facilitate traffic.

However, activists and researchers in history rejected the justification of the Ministry of Antiquities, confirming that this area falls within the scope of historical Cairo, which is considered a world heritage according to UNESCO, and it is registered a protection zone according to Law No. 119 of 2008, especially since many of the graves are linked to historical figures or a distinct architectural style It is registered heritage according to Law No. 144 of 2006.

Some of them pointed out that the new path had already been proposed several years ago, but it was stopped by the National Organization for Civilization Coordination.

In turn, the journalist writer Salim Azouz said that the failure to register the tomb of Al-Ezz Bin Abdul-Salam is a condemnation of the registration process, which ignored this shrine with its importance, history and ancientity, which would drop any value to the ministry’s statement that the Mamluk tombs being demolished are not registered.

Azzouz added in his article: “But if the shrine is registered, then the condemnation is obligatory for the ministry and the authority that does not pay attention to the monuments, and leaves them vulnerable to neglect and fall, even though they are registered with the competent ministry, so the authority that does not care about the registered monuments, how do we ask them to protect the unregistered? ? "

It is a difficult and unfortunate thing to demolish historical cemeteries in this way without transferring or offering an apology or even a compelling justification. In the same vein, Mougadoune invested in the controversy to redefine the personality of Ezz Bin Abdel Salam, and his role in Egyptian and Islamic history.

Izz al-Din bin Abdul Salam was born in Damascus in 577 AH, and died in Cairo in 660 AH, at the age of 83. Despite his expansion in the legal sciences, his courage in the face of rulers was the most famous in his history, especially his fatwa selling the Mamluk princes and returning their price to the Muslims money house.

According to Dr. Ali Al-Salabi, the method of Ezz bin Abdul Salam was characterized by the application of reason in devising judgments and identifying interests, and left a huge legacy in the sciences of the Qur’an, interpretation, hadith, belief, and the origins of loss, asceticism and mysticism.

Al-Salabi adds that Ibn Abd al-Salam was a real scientist, aware that the role of scholars is not limited to giving lessons, rhetoric, and teaching students. Therefore, he participated in public life as a reformer who takes the hand of the people to the right, and corrects the error for them even if it was issued by Sultan.

And the crucifixion tells that this scholar lived in a difficult era, which witnessed the weakness of the Abbasid state and its collapse and the ensuing internal rifts, and the crusaders and the Mongols were calling on the nation. In advance, a different picture of the world of religion, which strives for God’s sake and does not fear anyone.

Al-Sisi sets the tomb of Ezz bin Abdel Salam, Sultan of the scholars ... who stood in the face of Qutuz and refused to supply the army with the money of the victors and the taxes and the Mamluks forced the supply of the army from their wealth and the fortunes of the dignitaries ..
Sisi knew what he did to the enemy of the people and the enemy of history and the enemy of the whole nation . pic.twitter.com/Uvlf15pYC2
