Anna Lindstedt was charged with arbitrariness in negotiations with a foreign power after a high-profile meeting with the imprisoned author Gui Minhai's daughter Angela Gui.

During the meeting, Angela Gui met two Chinese businessmen who allegedly urged her not to talk to the media about her father.

According to the prosecution, Anna Lindstedt should have intervened during the conversation in her capacity as Swedish ambassador.

However, the indictment was dismissed by the Stockholm District Court on 13 July. According to the court, Anna Lindstedt did not have to intervene, partly because the two businessmen could not be regarded as representatives of a foreign power.

Do not appeal

Deputy Chief Prosecutor Hans Ihrman and Chamber Prosecutor Henrik Olin are now announcing that they will not appeal the acquittal.

- In order to appeal the verdict, it is required in our opinion that we can expect a change in the form of a conviction in the Court of Appeal, the prosecutors write in a press release.
