The French teleconsultation leader Doctolib announced Thursday that it had been the victim of a data theft relating to nearly 6,000 appointments, while assuring that "no information relating to the medical records of patients" had been stolen.
"Our security team detected and stopped a malicious act against Doctolib, which allowed illegal access to the administrative information of 6,128 appointments," the company said in a statement, which filed a complaint.
This computer attack, which occurred on Tuesday, does not concern "appointments made on doctolib.fr or on Doctolib's practice management software" but "appointments made on certain third-party software connected to Doctolib", he said. -she specified.
According to a company spokesperson, these are programs used by health professionals to manage their agendas and appointments, and which have an "interface" with Doctolib.
"No medical data could be read: no reason for an appointment, no medical document, no information relating to the medical records of patients was concerned," insists the specialist in e-health.
As a result, "nothing allows us to conclude to date that this administrative information was used," adds the company, which also specifies that no password could be read.
Doctolib, which claims to take several million appointments via its platform each week, indicates that it has lodged a complaint and alerted the National Commission for Informatics and Freedoms (Cnil).
