Veterinarian Johan: "Many can't stand the press"

The Swedish Veterinary Association has reacted to the employers 'organization Swedish Veterinary Services' demands for more training places, as the union believes that there must be greater focus on getting active veterinarians to remain in the profession.

According to the veterinarians that SVT spoke to, the industry's increased specialization has contributed to more conflicts with animal owners who question the care and the cost of the care. Veterinarians also testify to a stress and fear of being exposed to personal drives on social media.

Criticism of the work environment is also linked to working hours. The veterinarians that SVT spoke to say that there is generally a shortage of veterinarians outside office hours. This creates increased pressure on the veterinarians who work on call or are on standby.
