At present, no casualties reported. The U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center has also canceled its previously issued dangerous wave warning.

  At about 14:12 on July 22, Beijing time, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in the southern waters of Alaska, USA, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. The Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning. About 2 hours later, the center cancelled the alarm and told the public: "Please confirm with local officials whether everything is normal."

  According to reports, on Kodiak Island, Alaska, some residents posted videos on social media. The video shows that people are heading to a school that serves as a shelter, and the local alarm is sounding.

  Alaska's Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management spokesperson Jeremy Ziddeck said that emergency officials are trying to contact people in all affected communities.

  Ziddeck also pointed out that the town of Sandian in the state has been evacuated and the emergency siren has been sounded. He said: "I think the earthquake caused some damage, but they (related personnel) cannot confirm it yet."
