A survey conducted by the Norwegian Refugee Council showed that one in every four families in Yemen has lost their income completely since the pandemic hit the country.

The Norwegian Refugee Council "NRC" is extremely concerned about the rising levels of hunger across Yemen, as more Yemenis are pushed to the level of extreme poverty.

About 94% of families reported that food shortages are a major concern for them, and half of the respondents said that they have lost at least half of their income in light of the high prices of food and water.

Yemen is witnessing the largest food crisis in the world before the spread of Corona, where concerted relief efforts helped the country from starvation during the past year, but the data indicate the risk of slipping into the same slope again.

The council says that the Corona epidemic comes on top of a host of other challenges that may cost people their lives, including war.
