The Executive Director of the Benefits and Financial Empowerment Sector at the Community Development Authority in Dubai, Dr. Mr. Mohammed Al Hashemi, confirmed that the Authority did not deal with financially damaged cases of citizens due to the Corona crisis, and that data and indicators, during the first half of this year, showed much better results One of the expectations of the commission, which prepared for a plan to address the vulnerability of citizenship households, due to the crisis.

Al-Hashemi explained to «Emirates Today» that the number of financial subsidies that the commission disbursed during the period in question, as a periodic monthly benefit cut, were in the natural rates consistent with their number in previous years.

He said that there was a fear in the authority of some citizens losing their jobs, or being subjected to a sudden reduction in their monthly income, as a result of some companies having to reduce the salaries of their employees for a temporary period due to the pandemic conditions, adding that the authority was ready to meet any exceptional circumstances, and had a ready plan to ensure Financial stability of the citizenship family.

He stressed that the commission prepared with various scenarios, in the event of an increasing number of citizens losing their jobs, and they needed urgent intervention, but this did not happen, and the organization did not respond to any of these cases, adding that the committee of critical humanitarian cases in the commission was on standby. She performed calculations to find out the required amounts in the event that a citizen suddenly lost his source of income, and determined the financial cost so that he could live for three or four months, without being affected by the results of the crisis.

According to the most recent statistics issued by the authority, which Al Hashemi revealed, the number of new cut financial benefits that were disbursed to those who are entitled to them during the current year has reached 470 cut financial benefits.

The commission will spend the monthly financial benefit as a supplementary assistance to the income of the head of the family, which periodically deserves for citizens who meet the legal requirements, in order to meet their basic living needs, as it is paid to them according to the accrual line approved in the Financial Benefits Law No. (7) of 2012.

Al-Hashemi stated that the total number of all types of financial benefits that the authority disburses to its beneficiaries, including housing benefits, emergency benefits and other types of assistance, reached during the first half of this year, to 6,647 benefits.

Emergency benefit

The types of financial benefits provided by the Dubai Community Development Authority, in addition to the lump sum monthly benefit, include: the emergency benefit that is spent as a result of exposing the recipient to an emergency that is beyond his control, and which results in a threat to his stability or livelihood, and his financial conditions do not allow him to face it, such as fire or house collapse. Likewise, the benefit provided for furnishing a dwelling, which is paid to the beneficiary in cash only once, to equip the dwelling with furniture, electrical appliances, and air conditioning, in addition to the benefit of temporary housing, which provides secure residence in a place other than social care homes, for the beneficiary who does not own a dwelling or his dwelling is damaged as a result of circumstance An emergency with which it is impossible to reside in it for a period of one year, renewable, based on a re-examination of the request of the beneficiary, and this assistance shall be stopped by the expiry of the reason for granting it.
