  • Sindicatura de Cuentas.Laura Borràs breached the law by splitting contracts when he was in charge of the Catalan Lletres Institute

The deputy of the JxCat Laura Borràs has accepted this Wednesday her right not to testify before the instructor of the Supreme Court Eduardo de Porres that she is investigating her for the awards that the independence leader allegedly made to her personal friend, the computer scientist Isaías Herrero, when he directed the Institut de les Lletres Catalanes (ILC).

According to legal sources, the independence leader has indicated during her appearance that she would not respond to the interrogation until the expert test is carried out to determine if the work described in the investigated contracts was carried out.

In this case, the High Court investigates whether Borràs allegedly abused his functions to award contracts by finger, when he was at the head of ILC, his close friend, the computer scientist Herrero. From the summary it appears that between March 2013 and February 2017 the ILC awarded a total of 18 minor contracts to his former partner, directly or indirectly through various companies.

The JxCat parliamentarian is being investigated for prevarication crimes, fraud against the Administration, embezzlement of public funds and documentary falsification.
