  The "Shanghai-Taipei City Forum" has been held alternately between Shanghai and Taipei since 2010. It is an important institutionalized exchange platform between the two cities, also known as the "Two Cities Forum." In previous forums, more than 30 cooperation memorandums have been signed between the two cities, and fruitful results have been achieved.

  The Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng pointed out in his opening speech that the "Twin Cities Forum" is an important platform for Shanghai and Taipei to work together and has become a model of cross-strait city exchanges. Gong Zheng emphasized that at present, Shanghai is deeply implementing the important concept of "People's City, People's City for the People", and speeding up the construction of five centers of international economy, finance, trade, shipping, and technological innovation. Taipei, which has a diversified and open spirit, is also working hard. Continue to promote urban transformation and upgrading, and the common urban development vision provides a broad space for cross-strait cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will use this forum as an opportunity to build more consensus, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, provide a strong impetus for the win-win development of the two cities, and make greater contributions to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.

  Taipei Mayor Ke Wenzhe said in his speech that the "Twin Cities Forum" is closely related to people's livelihood and is an important channel for maintaining cross-strait relations. This year, the Twin Cities Forum was handled by video for the first time, which also demonstrated the goodwill and determination to continue to communicate with each other. The history and culture between the two sides of the strait are connected, economic exchanges are close, exchanges are better than stagnation, cooperation is better than confrontation, and "a family" is better than "a family enmity." The two sides can learn from each other and learn from each other through communication and dialogue, and jointly pursue the peaceful development of both sides of the strait.

  At the forum, Huang Shanshan, Deputy Mayor of Taipei City, and Zong Ming, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai respectively delivered keynote speeches, introducing the two cities’ experience in epidemic prevention and economic development. The forum also set up four sub-forums, such as "health care", "industrial economic exchange", "smart transportation", and "regional governance and cooperation", to conduct exchanges on topics of common concern between the two cities.
