State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell believes that the error was not particularly serious and explains that all regional figures were correct, but that the figures were incorrect when a spreadsheet was deleted when summing everything at the national level.

But this is not the first time you have presented incorrect figures. Are you careless?

- No, I absolutely do not think we are. However, we have quite a bit of time to do this. Had it lived a normal life, we would have had this out longer and many more would have watched it. I must still say that we have been successful in our forecasting work and have been very close to the real figures if you compare with many other forecasts.

Do you think that affects the credibility of the Public Health Agency?

- No I do not think so. People who are wise realize that we are in a hurry, and that it is data that is being corrected. The important thing is that these figures then do not affect the continued work at the regional level, says Anders Tegnell.
