The day after the dramatic death of a 23-year-old woman, fatally struck by a car in Lyon 5th, the public prosecutor Nicolas Jacquet unveiled several elements of the investigation on Monday evening. As part of the legal proceedings opened Monday by the Lyon prosecutor's office, two people were referred and indicted by the investigating judge. This is the driver of the car involved, a 21-year-old man remanded in custody for "willful violence with a weapon [the vehicle is here assimilated to a weapon by destination] resulting in death and hit-and-run".

The 19-year-old passenger, who has no criminal record, just like the driver, was indicted for "non-assistance to anyone in danger". At the end of his indictment, he was placed under judicial supervision. "A third person initially placed in police custody was exonerated in the course of the events", indicates Nicolas Jacquet, specifying that everything started "from a brawl between motorists and a group of young people accusing them of having hit a dog ”, Sunday around 3:40 am, at the Parc des Hauteurs (Lyon 5th).

Blood alcohol tests negative for the two indicted

The emergency services noted on the spot that "the victim of the accident had died and that his body was at the level of the place des Minimes, that is to say more than 800 meters from the declared place of the accident". Two hours after the incident, three people claiming to be “involved in the accident” presented themselves at the Marius-Berliet police station and were taken into police custody. During his testimony, the driver of the Golf, suspected of having therefore dragged the victim over 800 m, admitted having hit the young woman but he assured "not to have realized that she had remained hanging on his vehicle ”.

The blood alcohol tests for the two accused have been found to be negative and toxicological analyzes are in progress. "The investigations will have to continue on letter rogatory through the hearing of the numerous witnesses present at the time of the facts in order to confirm the circumstances and the exact course", concludes the public prosecutor.
