July 21, 2020 "We are working on the staff, clearly it is a job that is done both at the Ministry of Education and looking at the needs of the territories, so I feel reassured. Alarmist or apocalyptic tones are not doing well at the moment". This was stated by the Minister of Education, Lucia Azzolina, who today in Bologna participated in the regional table for the resumption of schools in Emilia-Romagna in September. In Emilia-Romagna, a few days ago, the unions alarm was raised on the organic issue according to which 17,000 teachers are missing.

At the end of today's meeting, Azzolina invites us not to use "apocalyptic" tones, because "we will return to school in September and families must receive this message from the ministry but also from the whole community that also this morning here in Emilia has shown to work with great compactness ". At the table "today there were also unions, we talked - says the minister - and there are two aspects. On the one hand the entries in the role", on which "we made a request to the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the other hand, the substitutes, which will also be given thanks to the new provincial rankings which are digital and are a way to speed up operations ".

Sileri: "We think about school medical presence"
In September "our schools will reopen safely thanks to the careful work done by Minister Lucia Azzolina and the Ministry of Education, who have developed screening with swabs and serological tests, to be added to the rules on meter away as a safety measure, hand hygiene and masks ". Deputy Minister of Health Pierpaolo Sileri said in a statement, who underlines how an additional safety support could also be offered by the school doctor, whose role "can be useful regardless of Covid-19".

"It may be useful to reason for the months to come - underlines Senator M5s - on the presence of a doctor or figure dedicated to taking care of the health of students in institutions", to "equip ourselves better and to make a system available that will be useful regardless from Covid. " This figure was once expected in Italian educational institutions, but was later abolished. The idea of reintroducing it had been put forward some time ago also by the then Minister of Health Giulia Grillo. The doctor's duties at school may include support on topics such as proper nutrition, safe sex, psychological support, prevention of bullying and alcohol and drug use.
