He had been out of prison for two months. A man was shot dead while driving his car, with his partner and his three children during the night from Monday to Tuesday in the Sainte-Musse district in Toulon. He was killed several times in what amounts to a settling of scores according to corroborating sources.

The 35-year-old man was "obviously expected by the shooter," said the Toulon prosecutor's office.

The gunman also injured the driver's wife

The shooter, who was "a few tens of centimeters from the target", fled, said Toulon public prosecutor Bernard Marchal, referring to a "brutal settling of scores".

Hit by several bullets, the man died in hospital. The 31-year-old woman was also injured but the children, installed in the back of the vehicle, were not affected, according to a police source. The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police of Toulon.
