"During the battalion tactical exercise under the plan for a sudden check of combat readiness, the calculations of anti-aircraft missile units of the Russian military base of the Southern Military District in Abkhazia repulsed a simulated enemy attack aircraft raid on the military facilities of the compound," the message says.
It is noted that the calculations of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems in the framework of the exercise were carried out by electronic launches.
About 500 servicemen took part in the exercise, more than 50 units of weapons and military equipment were involved.
Earlier, Russian tankers in Abkhazia were alerted as part of an inspection.
