“The Prosecutor General of Russia to the prosecutors of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Kamchatka Territory, the Magadan Region, the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and the Amur Basin Environmental Prosecutor were instructed to take an additional set of measures to ensure that the authorized bodies perform functions to extinguish natural fires in a timely manner, to prevent the transition of fire to economic facilities and settlements, as well as the prevention of new fires, ”the agency said.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, commenting on the situation with fires, noted that "a difficult situation has developed in a number of regions of Siberia and the Far East, some have already introduced an emergency mode."
It was also reported that the total area of natural fires in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug is approaching 30 thousand hectares. In turn, all existing forest fires were eliminated in Chukotka.
