Beijing Aerospace Flight Control Center: my country's first Mars exploration flight control mission is ready

The National Space Administration recently announced that my country’s first Mars probe will be launched at the right time. CCTV reporters from the Central Station learned at the Beijing Aerospace Flight Control Center that preparations for the center’s various flight control tasks are progressing smoothly.

In the Beijing Aerospace Flight Control Hall, the center's scientific and technical personnel are conducting joint debugging and joint tests with the mission's systems, preparing for the upcoming Mars exploration mission in my country.

Zhang Yu, deputy chief engineer of the first Mars exploration mission: Recently, we have conducted multiple flight control coordination exercises together with the launch site system, the rocket system and the probe system. Through these several flight control coordination exercises, we have tested our systems. The correctness of the interface and flight procedures also verified our ability to perform the first Mars exploration mission.

Compared with manned spaceflight and lunar exploration missions, the first Mars exploration mission has the characteristics of new spacecraft platforms, new exploration fields, long implementation periods, complex measurement and control modes, high orbit control requirements, and difficulty in emergency response. For new missions, the Beijing Flight Control Center established a Mars exploration mission flight control team in early 2018. Since the beginning of this year, they have also targeted major space missions such as the first flight of the Long March 5B rocket, the first Mars exploration, Chang'e 5 and the space station. Prepared for the situation, actively overcome the impact of the epidemic, coordinated adjustments in staffing, scientifically deployed measurement and control network resources, and formulated plans for site use and system switching to ensure that mission requirements are met.

Zhang Yu, deputy chief engineer of the first Mars exploration mission: We have developed an orbital dynamics model that is the same as the orbit of the probe and the corresponding measurement model. Then we have established the corresponding control algorithm to ensure that we can The designated location arrives at Mars on time and automatically captures it to ensure that it orbits Mars for subsequent flight control missions.

In this mission, the Beijing Flight Control Center will fully adopt a new generation of flight control software and hardware systems, which is also a comprehensive and systematic test of the new generation of software systems and localized hardware platform functional performance and coordination.
