A nursery school was devastated by fire overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Dunkirk (North). Is its origin criminal? In any case, an investigation was opened for "arson". The first police findings report "several starts of fire," we learned from the prosecution.

Declared a little before 4 am in the Trystram school, in the district of Petite-Synthe, the fire "completely destroyed a 600 m² building", without causing any victims, explained the Departmental Fire Service and rescue (Sdis) from the North.

Preserved primary school

"The fire was brought under control around 5 am but the nursery school building was already 100% destroyed," said Johan Bodart, deputy mayor of the Petite-Synthe district. "The buildings of the primary school and the school restaurant, located nearby, have remained intact," he added.

"The priority will be to relocate the reception of the leisure centers", planned during the summer in the destroyed building, then "to find solutions […] for the start of the school year", this building usually accommodating around sixty children, he said.
