Mikel Arteta provided additional evidence that Arsenal may have found the coach to bring him back to the days of glory, after he starred and defeated his former team Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

One month after his first face-to-face confrontation with City Coach Pep Guardiola, who won 3-0 in the Premier League, Arteta proved that he was learning fast by using the appropriate tactical method to outpace the man who was his assistant until December.

Although Arsenal's first goal came in a similar way to Guardiola style, where the players exchanged 18 assists before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored, this approach was not behind the student's victory over the professor.

Guardiola's teams rely on possession and fast pass. City did so again on Saturday, grabbing 71% of the ball, and had 16 attempts on goal versus only 4 attempts for Arsenal, but all attempts by City failed in front of Arsenal's solid defense.

Indeed, the Arteta team has skillfully managed to implement the plan that former Guardiola boss Jose Mourinho used to apply in his glittering days with Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Arsenal relied on defense discipline and high concentration, which is unusual for the team in recent years, as the London club has declined sharply since the last era in the career of Arsene Wenger and then Unai Emery.

But Arsenal appeared differently in Wembley with brilliance of players such as David Louise, Granite Chaka, Shkodran Mustafa, Danny Sibaius and Kiran Turney.

When Arsenal was in possession of the ball, he succeeded in launching dangerous counterattacks, which was embodied in the second goal of Rapid Aubameyang 20 minutes before the end of the match.

In a few days, Arsenal beat Liverpool, the Premier League champion, then finished a series of 7 consecutive defeats against Manchester City in all competitions.

Looking at the league table arrangement where Arsenal is in ninth place, this reflects the level of the team, but the 38-year-old coach has a great opportunity to win the title a few months after his position as a first coach.

After the match, Arteta said the "difference is still big" between Arsenal and teams like City and Liverpool.

But Arsenal appears to be heading in the right direction after a period of confusion.

"I am very happy and proud of the players," Arteta said. "When you face this team, you have to give your best, and when you get the opportunities they must be taken advantage of best."

"There is a lot of harmony between the players and they really believe in what they are trying to do."

Guardiola was the first to congratulate the victory of his former assistant, and he may succeed in reducing the impact of the defeat with the greatest opportunity to advance in the Champions League, as he beats Real Madrid 2-1 before hosting the second leg match of the round of 16.

However, it was not easy for Guardiola to accept defeat, saying, "We started slowly and without playing the way it should be done. We are always ready, but today it was not so."

"The opponent defended in a great way. It happened when he also played (against Liverpool) so we knew, but we weren't good enough."
