Dubai Electricity and Water Authority provides within the "smart life" initiative a set of smart features to enable customers to monitor their consumption of electricity and water, and take smart options to rationalize consumption in a proactive manner without referring to the authority to enrich their experience and provide value-added services.

The initiative aims to raise the awareness of customers about the concepts of billing and consumption by providing clear information about bills and their main components, and to clarify the reasons that lead to raising consumption such as the different volume of consumption in different seasons, and devices with high consumption such as air conditioners, water leaks, and the filling of swimming pools or Having multiple connections at home on the same smart meter. The initiative also provides digital panels to monitor consumption through the Authority’s smart application and its website, in addition to providing advice to rationalize consumption and develop proactive plans in this regard.

The initiative relies on supporting the implementation and adoption of a proactive mechanism in interacting with customers who have smart electricity and water meters, as it allows them to monitor their consumption and obtain annual, monthly and daily consumption reports, choose the date and time that suits them to conduct a field visit and determine the location accurately, and take advantage of a comprehensive tracking tool for the case Requesting the service, through the "my sustainable approach" program, which allows customers in the residential sector to compare their average monthly consumption of electricity and water with the average consumption of similar high-efficiency homes in the region, with the aim of encouraging them to make informed decisions based on updated data and information, thus encouraging competition Positive among customers to rationalize consumption.

The managing director of the authority, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: “The authority works according to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote a culture of rationalization and conservation of natural resources. As a socially responsible government institution, the Authority launches throughout the year a set of rationalization initiatives and programs based on the latest technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and technologies supported by artificial intelligence and big data, to enable customers to raise the efficiency of electricity and water consumption and adopt a sustainable lifestyle.
