The Supreme Council of Notables and the Elders of the city of Zintan (west) described the claim of Sheikhs loyal to the retired Major General Khalifa Haftar to the intervention of the Egyptian army in Libya as a "great betrayal", while Turkey revealed that it is about to conclude a new agreement with the government of reconciliation with the participation of the United Nations.

In a statement, the Supreme Council of Notables and the Elders of the city of Zintan (136 km southwest of Tripoli) said that it rejects the tribes as a substitute for elected legislative bodies such as the Supreme Council of State and the House of Representatives.

The Supreme Council of Zintan Senators considered this step a desperate attempt to interfere with the will of the Libyan people, and demanded the Libyan Zintans wise to stand together against conspiracies and the uprising against anyone who tries to tamper with their history and prejudice or harm it, according to the expression of the statement.

The Council asked the Public Prosecutor to issue an arrest warrant and to charge the high treason against the tribal sheikhs who demanded Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to intervene militarily in their country.

Al-Sisi said Thursday that "Egypt will not stand idle in the face of any direct threat to Egyptian and Libyan national security," after the Libyan parliament allied with Haftar in Cairo this week called for military intervention in the ongoing war in Libya.

Sisi added - in a meeting with the sheikhs of some Libyan tribes in Cairo - that Egypt would not stand idly by if its red lines were crossed, in reference to the preparations of the internationally recognized government of reconciliation to restore the city of Sirte.

Al-Sisi reiterated his country's readiness to "host and train members of the Libyan tribes to build a Libyan national army," considering that the state of political division in Libya will not lead to a solution to the crisis.

An agreement with Turkey

On the other hand, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country is about to conclude a new agreement with Libya with the participation of the United Nations.

He stressed that his country will continue to provide support to the Libyan state and will not leave the Libyans alone, and considered that Egypt's interference in Libya is illegal, and described the UAE's approach to the situation in Libya as similar to the behavior of pirates.

In statements to reporters after Friday prayers, Erdogan added that Ankara is about to conclude a new agreement with Libya to which the United Nations is a party, and that "Libya, for its part, is doing what must be done in this regard."

He stressed that his country will not leave the Libyans alone, adding, "Our relationship with Libya is not an emergency relationship from 10 years or 50 years, but a relationship whose roots extend to 500 years."

Oil and mercenaries

On the other hand, the National Oil Corporation in Libya condemned the stationing of the mercenaries of the Russian "Wagner" group and the Syrian and Janjaweed mercenaries in the oil installations, the last of which was in the Sidra port in eastern Libya.

According to a statement, the Foundation called on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to send observers to supervise the process of ending the military presence in the Foundation's areas of operations throughout Libya.

And it expressed its regret for the large number of foreign mercenaries working for the governments of other countries that have a real interest in stopping Libyan oil production.
