In his appeal, the legislator recalled that currently in Russia the amount of the transport tax does not depend on the intensity of operation of the vehicle.

However, for a number of reasons, including due to a difficult car breakdown or the need to move to another region, citizens may be forced to not use their own vehicles for a long time. At the same time, they must pay the transport tax in full, said the parliamentarian.

“I ask you to consider the possibility of granting to citizens who plan not to use a personal car for a long time the right to temporarily suspend registration of a vehicle for a period of six months with the delivery of autonomy for free storage at the STSI with exemption from paying transport tax for this period,” it said in the text of the appeal.

The deputy added that in relation to persons who were exempted from tax, but still used the car during the temporary suspension of registration, sanctions may be provided at the discretion of the relevant departments.

Earlier, the All-Russian Popular Front proposed increasing fines for motorists for driving in the red light and installing “fake numbers”.
