Two students at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Sharjah Branch, devised a wireless device in the name of “support” to make way for emergency vehicles, whether ambulances or civil defense first, others, especially at signs and road crossings, to reach its goal as quickly as possible.

The student, Aisha Ali Al Hammadi, told «Emirates Today» that «the wireless device is a graduation project that I completed with my colleague Aisha Ismail Al Zarouni in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Higher Colleges of Technology, and we called him (support), and we aim to organize traffic to give traffic priority to emergency cars» .

The method of operation of the device explained that it is inside the emergency vehicle (ambulance for example), and it connects wirelessly to an optical board installed on traffic lights by sending signals to it, and then the device controls the signals, then they are all converted to red, except for the corresponding signal to the car, it converts it to Green, more than 100 meters from the signal, and the device can be programmed to control signals at a distance further.

She added that the device converts the signals to normal operation as soon as the emergency car crosses the road, noting that the optical plate installed on the signal includes headphones to alert drivers that there is an emergency situation on the road so that they clear the way to cross it as soon as possible.

The two students participated in the device in the Sharjah Innovation Exhibition during the month of February, and the device won the admiration of the visitors of the exhibition, confirming that they had received great support from the college administration.
