The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education in Kuwait Saud Al-Harbi announced the end of the current school year «2019 - 2020» as a result of the repercussions of the crisis of the new Corona virus epidemic, with the remainder of the second semester curriculum for this year merged with the first semester of next year «2020-2021» Which begins on Sunday, 4 October next, "remotely", after modifying the curriculum.
This came during a press conference of the Minister of Education following the meeting held under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, in the framework of following up the repercussions of the pandemic and reviewed the mechanism and plans of "education" and "higher education" regarding the academic year in all stages of education.
Al-Harbi said that it was also decided to approve the transfer of students in the kindergarten, primary and intermediate stages to the next grade, while the mechanism was adopted to transfer students from the 10th and 11th grades to the next grade, provided that every student who does not have a degree as a result of absence is entitled to enter the second round exams.
He explained that, with regard to the secondary stage, it was decided to amend the cumulative average for the current academic year only, and to migrate part of it to next year, so that the 11th grade will be "25 percent" and the 12th grade "80 percent" according to the Kuwaiti "Al-Qabas".
He added that those who wish to improve the rate will be allowed to repeat the school year and do not count among the years of stay, pointing out that special tests will be held to teach adults "homes".
He stated that with regard to the 12th grade, the remaining time period of the second semester of the current year «2019 - 2020» was determined by six weeks, indicating that the curricula were modified in accordance with the completed study period scheduled to be held between August 9 and September 17 next. Al-Harbi stated that the evaluation of learners will be weekly through interaction, activities, educational experiences and attendance on the electronic portal, provided that reports are submitted in this regard.
He pointed out that "there will be no direct written tests" that all of the above be applied throughout the general and private education and special education schools that apply the higher education curriculum.
