On Monday and Tuesday nights, firefighters and police were particularly mobilized in the Lyon metropolitan area following numerous incidents and overflows deplored in different communes. During this violence and degradations in a meeting committed on July 13 and 14, 18 people were arrested.

Ten of them, men aged 16 to 25, were presented to the public prosecutor's office on Wednesday or are due to be presented on Thursday, we learned from the Lyon police. 

Two suspects in prison

These suspects are accused of having started fires, throwing projectiles at the police or having carried out mortar fire in Lyon, Caluire, Vénissieux, Vaulx-en-Velin or even in Sainte-Foy- lès-Lyon. Among the youths arrested, two Caluire residents, aged 21 and 22 and known for two criminal records, were taken into custody on Wednesday pending their immediate appearance at a later date. At midnight Monday to Tuesday, they allegedly threw projectiles at the security forces in Caluire. Facts confirmed by video surveillance, according to urban security, which specifies that during their arrest, the suspects struggled and outraged the police, then denied the facts.

The same night, in Vénissieux, two boys aged 16 and 18 were arrested for alleged "aggravated violence". While police were mobilized to protect firefighters called for a car fire, the police had been targeted by mortar fire from a group of young people gathered on the roof of a school group. The two suspects acknowledged their presence on the roof. At the end of their presentation to the Lyon public prosecutor's office, the minor was left free with the opening of judicial information. The adult must be tried immediately for these facts on September 7.
