China News Service, July 16 (Xinhua) According to reports from the Korean media, the South Korean Grand Court (Supreme Court) has a final judgment on the suspected dissemination of false information by Gyeonggi Governor Li Zaiming at 2 pm local time on the 16th. The court held that it could not be punished for the crime of spreading false information. Li Zaiming returned the case to retrial on the grounds of innocence. At the same time, retain his post of governor.

  Li Zaiming was suspected of instructing the head of the health center and other civil servants to force his brother into a psychiatric hospital during his tenure as the mayor of Seongnam in 2016. He had denied this before the 2018 local elections and was suspected of spreading false information.

  The court ruled that Li Zaiming was not guilty in the first instance, but the court of second instance reversed the judgment of the first instance and found that Li Zaiming used his power to distribute false information in the incident, violating the Election Law and imposed a fine of 3 million won.

  If the Great Court finally upholds the judgment of the second instance, Li Zaiming will lose his official position. According to Korean law, elected civil servants who are sentenced to 1 million won or more for violating the "Electoral Law" shall be deemed invalid and shall not be allowed to stand for five years.

  Li Zaiming is 56 years old and belongs to the Republican Democratic Party, the ruling party in South Korea. He was born as a human rights lawyer. After the outbreak in South Korea, he was tough in dealing with the "Xintiandi" church. He and the late Seoul Mayor Park Yuan Chun are both popular candidates for the next president in the ruling party camp.
