Martinsons has been looking for new owners for some time. It is now clear that it will be Holmen who buys Martinsons for one billion kronor.

"With our large forest holdings behind us, we look forward to continuing to develop the business and contribute to increased wood construction, which is part of the solution to the climate challenge," says Henrik Sjölund, President and CEO of Holmen in a press release.

Martinsons currently has 470 employees at the two sawmills in Bygdsiljum and Kroksjön.

"That we have found an owner with a corporate culture that we believe will work excellently together with what we have built up feels particularly good," says Lars Martinson, CEO and one of the owners of Martinsons.

The deal presupposes that Holmen receives approval from the relevant competition authority, something that is expected to be completed in the autumn, Holmen writes in a press release.
