His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State "may God protect him", in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued Law No. 16 of 2020 regarding the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The law stipulates that the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi shall be dissolved and all its assets, assets, rights and obligations shall be transferred to Abu Dhabi Ports Company / a public joint stock company /, provided that the employees and users of the Corporation shall be transferred to the company.

According to the law, ADPC - either directly or through one of its wholly owned companies - establishes, owns, plans, develops, manages and operates the economic zones and everything related to the development of infrastructure in them, and supervises the provision of all services required by facilities or companies to conduct their activities in the regions Economic cooperation with the relevant authorities, and secure and provide the economic areas with technical, administrative, logistical and technological services.

The company also undertakes identifying and collecting the services it provides with setting the necessary regulations for that, supervising and controlling, developing, operating and managing workers housing in the emirate in accordance with the legislation in force, issuing licenses to conduct activities within economic regions and setting regulations, rules and procedures for granting and revoking licenses in coordination with the relevant authorities, and any Other purposes specified by the executive board or the holding company, provided that the regulations, rules and decisions in force continue to apply until the issuance of special regulations, systems and decisions regulating economic regions.
