The new recruit of Borussia Dortmund, the Belgian international Thomas Meunier, was not tender with Paris Saint-Germain, his former club, which he said refused to extend him until August to play the Champions League, despite the agreement of the German club.

In an interview with the German press agency DPA, Meunier regretted the attitude of Leonardo, the Parisian sports director.

"Leonardo never tried to reach an agreement with Dortmund, even less with me," said the former player from Bruges, who added that the Brazilian "had contacts with Dortmund but was not interested in a possible ready until the end of August ".

At the end of the contract with PSG, the 28-year-old right-back entered freely in June with the German vice-champions until 2024.

The Belgian said he was annoyed by the remarks made by Leonardo about him.

"He said in the French press that I refused to extend my contract with PSG until August but that is not true. I want to make this clear," detailed Meunier, who assures him that PSG asked by mail to stay away from club facilities during the confinement period and the weeks that followed.

Arrived at PSG in 2016, the Belgian with 40 selections to play 128 matches with the Parisian club, including the first leg match of the knockout stages of the Champions League this season against Dortmund, lost 2-1.

Meunier was suspended during the victory of the champions of France in the return match (2-0) and will not play the quarter-final against Atalanta Bergamo on August 12 in Lisbon.
