US President Donald Trump has replaced his campaign manager, in a decision that comes just 4 months before a presidential election, and through which a Republican billionaire hopes to improve his declining popularity in opinion polls.

"I am pleased to announce the promotion of Bill Stephen to the position of Trump campaign manager," Trump said in a tweet on Twitter.

Stephen was deputy director of the campaign, and by this decision replaced Brad Barsquel who Trump said would not leave his campaign team, but would return to his previous duties as responsible for the campaign's "great digital and graphic strategies".
