The procession of the "Immortal Regiment" will not take place on the scheduled date of July 26th. This was told by the press secretary of the united public movement "Immortal Regiment of Russia" Olga Baybulova.

“The July 26 march will definitely not take place. When it passes, we will look at the epidemiological situation, ”TASS quoted her as saying.

It is specified that applications for the march will be submitted as soon as the epidemiological situation in the country allows.

The co-chairman of the central headquarters of the movement, People's Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoi proposed to conduct the march on May 9, 2021.

“Tens of millions of people have already taken part in commemorative events designed to glorify our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers. May 9, June 22 and 24, we recalled their feat, honored the living and honored the memory of the departed. Maybe it’s worth thinking and conducting a march in full format on Victory Day on May 9, 2021? ” He declared.

Earlier, Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky said that the decision to postpone the action is being discussed. He emphasized that, first of all, it is necessary to assess the possible risks for the participants, as their health is “above all”.

In connection with the pandemic of coronavirus infection, the Immortal Regiment action was postponed in 2020 from May 9 to July 26, the Day of the Russian Navy. Directly on May 9, on Victory Day, the action was held online. According to the organizers, about 3 million people took part in it.

On the eve of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that he was not aware of any new proposals by Vladimir Putin regarding the transfer of the rally.

“We know about the previous initiative of the head of state, and I am not aware of any of his new proposals in this regard. If there are any, then the president will voice them, ”Peskov told reporters.

On April 16, Vladimir Putin instructed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, heads of law enforcement agencies and authorities at all levels to postpone preparations for any mass events planned to mark the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War in connection with the epidemiological situation.

“Now we have a difficult, frankly, difficult choice. And the date of May 9 is holy for us, and the life of every person is priceless. But the risks associated with an epidemic whose peak has not been passed are still extremely high. And this does not give me the right to begin preparations for the parade and other mass events, ”the Russian leader said.

Last year, 10 million people took part in the events of the Immortal Regiment only in the Russian Federation. In addition, every year more and more countries of the world join the movement. In 2019, promotions were held on all continents.

Recall that the Victory parades, which are traditionally held in many cities of Russia on May 9, were postponed in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the end of March, Russia introduced a number of restrictions that are necessary to prevent the spread of infection among the population. The country's leadership decided to abandon the organization of most events dedicated to the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. On May 9, an air parade was held in the capital, in which about 75 aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces took part.

On May 29, Putin signed a decree on military parades and fireworks in honor of the victory in the Great Patriotic War on June 24. This day was declared non-working with salary.

The decree emphasized that the parades and fireworks were “a sign of gratitude of descendants to the victors of the fascist invaders” and “a tribute to deep respect for the great feat, heroism and dedication of war veterans”.

In addition, Putin ordered a naval parade to be held at the main bases of the Russian Navy on July 26.

“Immortal Regiment” is a public action held in Russia and a number of countries near and far abroad to perpetuate the memory of participants and victims of the Great Patriotic War. As part of the action, every year on May 9 or on the nearest dates, its participants pass in a column carrying banners with photographs of their relatives-veterans.
